La Promesa – A Superior Smoke
Our Cigar of the Month for July is My Father’s La Promesa – ‘The Promise’. This refers to the promise company patriarch Don Jose Pepin Garcia (respectfully known to cigar enthusiasts as Don Pepin), made to his family when he left Cuba. He promised to succeed as a cigar-maker, to make something of himself, and to honor his family name and their tobacco heritage.
La Promesa has a Nicaraguan binder and filler and an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper; it a has a pre-smoke aroma of chocolate and ceder. It smokes smooth, with an even draw and flavors of again chocolate and ceder, along with cinnamon and mild peppery spice.
We carry the line in three sizes ; Toro, 6 X 52; Petite, 4 1/2 X 50; and Corona Gorda, 5 1/2 X 48. The Corona Gorda is particularly flavorful due to its smaller ring gauge. The La Promesa Toro is our Friday special this month – buy four and get one free!
July 29th Event – My Father and Build-a-Burger
Saturday July 29th from 2PM to 6PM My Father Cigars’ representative Brian Johnson will be on hand for our monthly event to present My Father’s line of quality cigars. We will be raffling off a lot good swag, including boxes of cigars, ashtrays, and bluetooth headphones!
My Father grew from humble beginnings when Don Pepin, already a master blender for many labels, established a small factory in the Little Havana of Miami in 2003. Don Pepin could not have imagined at that moment that his love and passion for cigars would help him to build one of the most recognized companies in the cigar industry. His companies have become synonymous with highly rated and well-distinguished brands.
As its quality cigars grew in popularity so did the company, culminating in 2009 with the opening of My Father Cigars in Nicaragua, also known as the Garcia Family Industrial Park. It’s a seven-acre complex within which the tobacco is harvested, packaged and shipped to retailers. In 2012 Cigar Aficionado named its Flor de Las Antillas Cigar Of The Year.
This month with our event we feature ‘Build a Burger’ – we’ll provide quality top-sirloin burgers with a multitude of condiments, allowing you to build your own towering example of the American classic!
Our June Event was a Party!
The Oliva event on June 24th was a huge success with every seat in the house full! The 100% beef hot dogs we served were a big hit and the deals on cigars! Such deals! Many happy customers left smiling, with boxes under their arms and handfuls of swag!
We congratulate the big winners in our event raffle, Dan Kiddy and Tony Rosback, each of whom won a box of 135th Anniversary Oliva Perfectos along with a Lotus table lighter.
